Amy Tricot Christening Gown - One Small Child

Amy Sheer Blessing Dress, Christening Dress, Baptism Dress with Matching Baby Headband

Sweet Amy!

Next up from our NEW designs is our Amy Blessing Dress.

Amy Short Christening Dress by One Small Child

Blessing Dress Details:

A 100% sheer lattice, polyester dress delicately overlays a soft 100% cotton slip.  Flower-vine details float atop the bodice lattice and skirt edge.  Perfectly scrunched lace wraps each sleeve in pure sweetness.  The white satin-ribbon sash makes getting that perfect fit a breeze.  (Ever wondered how to tie a dress sash into a perfect bow?  Check out our Facebook page for a tutorial.)

A matching headband pulls this quaint little dress altogether.  Soft elastic is attached to more flower-vine goodness, while an off-centered satin bow adds that “little something extra”.

Accessories:

Every mom wants their little one’s day to be memorable.  Let us help with our many accessories and embroidery options.  Listed below are some must-haves to create a notable and hassle-free day.

  • Camisole Onsie – not only do these hold baby’s diaper firmly in place during the ceremony, they are great for everyday use (get more and save with our 3-pack).  Have her initials monogrammed on the chest for a personal touch.
  • Cotton Diaper Cover – dainty satin-ribbon bows and cotton ruffles adorn the  legs.  And what could be more adorable than a cross, shamrock, or baby’s name embroidered on the bum!
  • Floral Initial Ruffle Bib – keep her dress pristine with a bib that looks as pretty as the dress.  The floral embroidery detail compliment the dress and the flourish initial makes it custom just for her.
  • Silver & Pearl Name Bracelet – divine fresh-water pearls and sterling silver beads encircle baby’s name, spelled in sterling silver letter blocks.  Add a cross charm and/or birthstone crystal to sparkle on her tiny wrist. Finally, a half-inch silver chain enables the bracelet to adjust for a lasting fit.

Have any embroidery done in your choice of white, baby pink, soft green, metallic gold, or silver thread.  White thread offers a subtle look, pink or green enhances her small features, while metallic gold and silver create a timeless feel.

One final thought.  How about a mother daughter photo memorial.  Every parent knows that children do not stay little forever.  Capture their vibrant youth within your heart–and take photos often! These will be priceless in the future.  Oscar Wilde once said, “No man is rich enough to buy back his past”, but luckily we can take photos to remember it.

Did Someone Say FREE Printable…

As life moves along at such a fast pace I can’t help but marvel at my children.  They learn and grow so quickly.  I feel immense joy as I watch them progress and adjust to life.  No matter how “grown up” they seem to get each day, it never ceases to amaze me how they still play without a care in the world.  We adults can learn so much from children.  Let’s take their lead and find time to play with them, and (no matter how old we get) in our hearts–Never Grow Up!

Check Out the All New “Gift Registry” Feature–Makes Christening Shopping even Easier!

All New “Christening Gift Registry” Feature!

Whether big or small Christenings, Baptisms, Dedications, and Blessings require planning.  There are dates to be set, loved ones to invite, buildings to secure, things to consider like “what to wear?”, and more.  Every bit-of-help counts, and THAT is where our gift registry comes in handy!

Why Parents & Guardians Will Love it!

Amidst the hustle of preparation is the task of finding an outfit or gown that will be perfect for your little one’s special day.  Luckily this is where family, friends, or Godparents step in and help out!  Godparents are honored to provide this for their Godchild.  In other denominations family and friends usually help with this as well.  Some moms want to have a say in deciding the special apparel, while others like to choose a few for the sponsor to pick from.  Either way this registry will accommodate both scenarios.  Not only can outfits or gowns be added to the registry; matching accessories, and gifts can be as well.

During this exciting time many loved ones want to help.  With a gift registry they can.  Parents compile a list within the registry, then share it with anyone who wishes to help.

Why Godparents, Family Members, and Friends Will Love it!

Our gift registry takes out the guess work and uncertainty of knowing what to buy.  Here’s a few ways how:

  • Maybe one person is supplying the outfit or gown, and another is getting matching accessories.  Our gift registry allows parents to compile a complete list so helpers can choose what to purchase with just a point and click.  This ensures everything will match, and keeps everyone up to date with what still needs to be purchased.  It also keeps things budget friendly!
  • Sizing is always tricky when it comes to buying for a little one.  This is no longer an issue as the sizes will already be entered by the parents.
  • Worrying over what style or length will be best for the event is a thing of past.  The gift registry will show the parents preference.

How the Registry Works

  1. Create an account.  If you already have one, simply log in.Create-account

Sean Cross Stitched Christening Gown - One Small Child

Sean Traditional Baby Boy Christening Gown

Our newest baby boy christening gown design will pull you back into a time of cobblestone streets and quaint French villas.  Made with 100% broadcloth cotton this heirloom gown has a summer breeze feel, with a crisp smooth finish that even grandma will approve of.   Additionally, the Sean bodice features generous pintucks that are enhanced with decorative cotton-covered buttons.  It then is made complete with a classic pointed-collar; offering your little mister a masculine touch that dad will appreciate.  Also, double-layered two inch waist-band introduces a 32-33” traditional length skirt.  Finally, incorporated into this length is entredeux (French term meaning “between two”) trim.  This deluxe trim is used on each sleeve cuff, as well as above our diamond cross-stitched hem for an old-world feel.

Christening & Personalization

Heirloom-style open backed design allows for dressing ease, while a cotton slip adds a secure underlayer.  Not only does our soft cotton slip add a plush extra layer, it can also be personalized.  Embroider baby’s full name and date to commemorate the special day.  Or if you prefer something more customary, we offer time-honored 3-letter monogramming.  Your little man’s initials can be done in a circle, diamond, flourish, geometric, scroll, or simple font for an eye-catching appeal.

Embroidery-Monograms-6

Personalization is placed on the slip, making it easy to add more as your family grows.

To make this christening, baptism, or blessing gown the “cream of the crop” we’ve added a sweet visor hat that features more diamond cross-stitching.  In addition to cotton-covered buttons at the sides, this infant visor hat caters to your baby’s natural charm.

Matching Shoes

Even with all of this, we could not stop there; this adorable infant boys christening gown needed matching shoes.  These fully-lined shoes give wiggle room for tiny toes, all the while wrapping them in ultimate comfort.  A cotton-covered button fastened to the outside of the shoe secures a diamond cross-stitched strap.  This simple design is the perfect finishing touch for our Sean gown.

Margaret Battenburg Christening Gown - One Small Child

Christening Gown Margaret, Baptism Dress, Christen

All the intricacies of the Margaret Christening Gown…

This 100% cotton broadcloth christening gown has countless details. Each one has been refined and passed down through the ages!  Pin-tucking has always had a place on the clothing of histories elite.  The Margaret skirt panel pintucks are no exception, giving this baby girl christening gown an overall vintage charm.  Also, a generous ruffle hem, ruffle bonnet, and dainty puff sleeves offer a simple splendor.  Vintage Battenberg lace decorates the bodice and sleeve cuffs.  In addition, this same lace is featured on the heirloom-length skirt providing perfect symmetry.   Also, cotton covered buttons drape down the back, allowing for effortless dressing.  Queen Victoria prompted the creation of this lace in the late 1800’s after dubbing her son-in-law Duke of Battenburg.  Batten lace has been at the root of Victorian design ever since.

Mom Talk: Meet Jane Doe - One Small Child

Mom Talk: Meet Jane

Mom Talk: Meet Jane Doe

-Tell us a little about your family and why it is special?

My little family consists of myself, and my super strong, adventurous, smart, loving 7 month old baby girl- Amel. She makes me want to only do things she can be proud of. Amel is so smart. She learns very quickly. She learned her first word at five months old! (it was “Buh-Bye”). The most special thing to me is how happy she is. She’s the smiliest baby I’ve ever known. She melts my heart.

-What do you do for work/volunteer outside of being a wife and mom?

I have a career in music as a singer/songwriter and have been writing music for myself as well as other artists such as Taylor Dayne, Chrisette Michelle, and Kenny Lattimore to name a few. My daughter has loved music since utero. I traveled and worked into my ninth month from studios in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. She danced a lot in the last 3 months. Now that she’s here, she pretty much dances to anything that she deems musical. She’s my total focus now. She has inspired me to produce a sing-along album for children and take a break from the serious side of music for a while.

-Is there something your family does on a regular basis for quality time?

Amel loves to read or be read to. She also loves bath time. So we take our bath together, relax,  and wind down for the evening. Then she gets her cream massage, into her pajamas and we choose a book to read. Once that’s done-its feeding time. Amel loves her milk! She dream-feeds to this day. I’m going to miss that bond once her teeth come in.

-How do you take time for yourself to recharge?

I either take a bubble bath with a magazine and a mug of milktea, or If we’re in New York, I’ll take a trip to Spa Castle and enjoy a mineral bath.

-What is your go to, never fail and in a pinch recipe?

Either My Shrimp Scampi with mashed potatoes, or my Kielbasa with peppers and onions with pasta. Both recipes are so quick and easy and borderline impressive in a pinch, not to mention delicious.

-What is the one product you can not live without?

I can not live without my Bulgari Au Blanc Fragrance. Its a major part of my daily ‘Armure Feminine’. My mascara, my lip balm, and my fragrance are like the ‘S’ on my chest. They make me feel invincible.

-Tell us a little about your family and why it is special?

I think we’re an ordinary family just like any other.  We have 2 beautiful daughters and we want them to do great things.  We pray that we instill kindness in their character and that they lead a life in pursuit of Jesus.

-What do you do for work/volunteer outside of being a wife and mom?

I left a career in marketing and sales to become a mother…after 2 1/2 years of being a SAHM, I’m in the process of getting my real estate license and plan on joining my husband’s real estate brokerage.  I’m excited to go back to work part-time.

-Is there something your family does on a regular basis for quality time?

We’re still trying to figure out what “regular” looks like.  My husband is self-employed and our days look different daily.  We kind of thrive on spontaneity.  Quick road trips, overnight getaways, and long walks have always been wonderful memories for our family.

-How do you take time for yourself to recharge?

I’m still working on this concept…but if I can get away to a coffee shop by myself I always feel like I’ve been refueled.

-What is your go to, never fail, in a pinch recipe?

Slow cooker carnitas!

-What is the one product you can not live without?

Currently, its my Lily and Mama Ring Sling…I would not be able to accomplish anything without babywearing!
