Next up from our NEW designs is our Amy Blessing Dress.
Blessing Dress Details:
A 100% sheer lattice, polyester dress delicately overlays a soft 100% cotton slip. Flower-vine details float atop the bodice lattice and skirt edge. Perfectly scrunched lace wraps each sleeve in pure sweetness. The white satin-ribbon sash makes getting that perfect fit a breeze. (Ever wondered how to tie a dress sash into a perfect bow? Check out our Facebook page for a tutorial.)
A matching headband pulls this quaint little dress altogether. Soft elastic is attached to more flower-vine goodness, while an off-centered satin bow adds that “little something extra”.
Every mom wants their little one’s day to be memorable. Let us help with our many accessories and embroidery options. Listed below are some must-haves to create a notable and hassle-free day.
Camisole Onsie – not only do these hold baby’s diaper firmly in place during the ceremony, they are great for everyday use (get more and save with our 3-pack). Have her initials monogrammed on the chest for a personal touch.
Cotton Diaper Cover – dainty satin-ribbon bows and cotton ruffles adorn the legs. And what could be more adorable than a cross, shamrock, or baby’s name embroidered on the bum!
Floral Initial Ruffle Bib – keep her dress pristine with a bib that looks as pretty as the dress. The floral embroidery detail compliment the dress and the flourish initial makes it custom just for her.
Silver & Pearl Name Bracelet – divine fresh-water pearls and sterling silver beads encircle baby’s name, spelled in sterling silver letter blocks. Add a cross charm and/or birthstone crystal to sparkle on her tiny wrist. Finally, a half-inch silver chain enables the bracelet to adjust for a lasting fit.
Have any embroidery done in your choice of white, baby pink, soft green, metallic gold, or silver thread. White thread offers a subtle look, pink or green enhances her small features, while metallic gold and silver create a timeless feel.
Spring showers may bring April flowers, but here at One Small Child, Spring also brings fresh new designs. After a long winter of hunkering down and feverishly working, we are excited to present each one. First up is our Camilla Christening Gown:
What’s in a Name?
The name Camilla originates as a Latin baby name. It means noble; free-born; servant of the temple. We believe we captured the epitome of each meaning with this satin and lace baby gown.
The square neckline brings a sense of noble birthright, just as it did in the 17th century. From neckline to hem stretches a generous floral lace panel with a unique continuous flow. Dual intricate glossy-looping trims each side to confirm superior craftsmanship. Scalloped lace is the final framework as it cascades over the shoulders and circles around the back. This is a flawless introduction to scalloping lace that waterfalls down three-quarter sleeves.
This gown is made with matte satin. Our satin is a pure white and lustrous mid-weight fabric. This combination of color and density makes for a temperature comfy baby on any Spring day.
A hand-gather waist and 3 buttons make up the back. The gathering offsets the simplistic front design, while buttons make for dressing ease. And finally, the hem is festooned with a double laced edge, and more glossy looped lace.
As a bonus, we include a matching baby christening bonnet. An exaggerated ruffle softly brushes baby’s sweet face. A thick satin band accentuates a fully-lined puff style bonnet. The open back design is indicative of a vintage inspired headpiece. Thin triple strand satin ribbons tie under the chin for a secure fit.
What could be better than a gorgeous christening gown for your little one’s special day? How about matching accessories to complete the look. For those who adore lace, pair our Lucy Christening Slippers with this gown. Or maybe a little less frill is more to your liking, take a look at our Bow Christening Slipper in satin. And last but not least, make sure baby stays warm with this glorious Satin Ruffle Blanket.
Don’t forget to check out the embroidery options for both the baby slippers and blanket. Personalize one or both to commemorate baby’s special day!
Transform your special day into a Winter Wonderland with our Collins and Josina circle skirts
Katy Lane Collection has new holiday skirts for women. The full circle cut design creates billows of fabric along with enticing volume and flow. Just imagine these gorgeous skirts in a wedding line of beautiful bridesmaids. Or picture yourself floating across the room during a dinner party, dance, anniversary, gala, or any other special event–all eyes will be one you! Not only do these skirts look the epitome of elegance, they make you feel like the belle of the ball. We have full length skirts (Collins) for the utmost formal events, and knee length skirts (Josina) for a little flirty fun.
Our flower girl designs have all sorts of different applications. Have matching bridesmaids and flower girls. Or shake things up with diamond textured bridesmaids and smooth textured flower girls. Maybe differentiate the two with lengths; full length for bridesmaids, and knee length for flower girls. The possibilities are endless! Also, not only will the girls look adorably sweet in these skirts, they will LOVE the way they twirl!
Did we mention the options?
Women and girls skirts come in full length or knee length, and your choice of burgundy smooth, burgundy diamond, and ivory diamond color and texture. These skirts above and below are pictured with our soft velvet shirts. Monroe for the girls, and Hartley for women.
Dress alike, but use different accessories.
One final thought. How about a mother daughter photo memorial. Every parent knows that children do not stay little forever. Capture their vibrant youth within your heart–and take photos often! These will be priceless in the future. Oscar Wilde once said, “No man is rich enough to buy back his past”, but luckily we can take photos to remember it.
Our latest design in Baptism wear features daisy embroidered satin and hand-beaded daisy lace. From shoulder to hem this dress is approximately 23-24″ (depending on the size). It was designed to brush past baby’s toes, while the included headband wraps her dainty head like a soft crown of flowers.
Classic Bodice & Plush Satin
Little ladylike puff sleeves are the perfect starting point for this dress. These sleeves, along with a definitive round neck bodice, are made from pure white satin. Unlike vertical plain weave, satin has a special weaving process. As such, light reflects off diagonally “floating” yarns. Therefore giving off a soft, rich glow! Our satin is a distinct mid-weight fabric. It is therefore universal, not too heavy for summer, yet warm enough for winter events.
Hand beaded lace to decorate the waist is just the right amount of embellishment. It is a graceful transitional piece from satin simplicity to elaborate embroidery.
Beginning around 900 years ago the life of embroidery on fabric took shape. What started out as artisan intricate artwork on fabric soon became the mark of wealth. It quickly gained favor among the majority and remains sought-after today.
In 1820, white embroidery on a white backdrop came to mean fresh-purity and youth. We wanted to bring this same feel to our Arianne Christening Dress. This is where the elaborate details of the skirt come in. Ornate daisies of varying sizes adorn the skirt in the form of exquisite needlepoint. White embroidery on white satin provide princess type quality. In addition, this historic artisan technique offers touch-ably pleasing textile. Finally, graceful scallops make up the hem for a feminine finish. All-in-all, every skirt element combines for a simple, beautiful, time-less dress.
This heirloom worthy gown could easily be a link from your little one to future generations.

Today, we’re sharing some sweet Irish Christening traditions that we adore! Guests can’t help but feel like part of the family when witnessing these fun customs.
A Special Handkerchief-Irish brides are given a special white handkerchief to carry on their wedding day. This handkerchief is turned into her firstborn child’s Christening bonnet. Then, the bonnet is unstitched and given to the bride to be at the baby’s wedding.
Wedding Cake to Christening Blessing-Newlyweds keep the top layer of their wedding cake for the Christening of their firstborn. At the Christening celebration, the parents sprinkle pieces of the cake over their little one’s head, wishing their child a long and prosperous life.
Irish Christening Gown-Shamrocks or Celtic crosses are often embroidered on the wee one’s outfit for good luck. Traditional Irish Christening gowns are made from Irish flax linen and lace.
A Sleeping Beauty-For added luck, baby will sleep in his baptism outfit the night before his Christening.
Coin Charm-To ensure a prosperous life, parents put a silver coin in their little one’s hand to hold during the ceremony.
An Irish Blessing-Irish blessings are a big part of tradition. These can be said during the ceremony, as a prayer, at the reception.

We all have a love for anything to do with the Royal family, especially the adorable Prince George. Today we want to highlight Royal and Celebrity Christenings we love because we can’t get enough of babies in amazing gowns.
Prince George’s Christening gown was actually a handmade replica of the original Royal Christening gown that was used from 1841 until 2004 for all of the Royal family’s Christenings. The Queen finally had it retired and preserved 11 years ago due to age. What an amazing heirloom! (Source) I can only imagine the stunning gown in person with that kind of history.
After retiring the gown, the Queen commissioned a new gown to replica the original to be used for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The amazing lace details are swoon worthy!
Another one of our favorites is this baptism dress for Rachel Griffiths baby girl back in 2009 that was made in 1920 by her great-grandmother. We love the simple color underneath with the darling over sized headband. Again, we love heirloom pieces that become a family tradition.
And finally, from December 2013, Fergie and Josh Duhamel’s baby Axl’s baptism day! We love the little suit with the personal, modern touch of the high top sneakers. Sweet accents like this are fun and unexpected so they add surprise to the baby’s big day for everyone to see.
