Easter Dresses for Babies: Spring 2014

According to the calendar, Spring is officially here! After a long, hard winter, it’s exciting to think about the warm days ahead. We’re so looking forward to pretty green foliage, birds chirping, and babies in sweetly colored dresses. Speaking of babies in sweetly colored dresses, we’ve got three new styles of Easter dresses for babies for this year:

Madeline Baby Easter Dress

Our Madeline Easter Dress is made from luscious pale pink silk with a luxurious embroidered lace overlay on the skirt. The pure silk ribbon sash is finished off with a handmade silk rosette pin at the waist. Bonus: the pretty headband is included.

Skye Baby Easter Dress

The lovely Skye Dress is a two-piece outfit featuring a softly ruffled ivory lace over-dress with a silk slip in an incredible shade of turquoise-blue reminiscent of a robin’s egg. Bonus: the slip can be worn alone, making this a versatile wardrobe piece! Don’t forget the darling matching slippers, sold separately.

Ruby Baby Easter Dress

Off-the-charts-sweet, the Ruby Dress has a bit of a retro vibe with a shorter length to show off a darling pair of pink silk bloomers. Our pretty beaded floral lace kisses the sleeves & waist to add a touch of sparkle. You can choose to have the little back seat of the bloomers embroidered with Baby Girl’s name or monogram to take the adorable factor over the top! Our pink silk Ruby Slippers are sold separately for a perfect match.

Family Friday: Happy Valentine’s Day!

For the past few years, my sisters & I have been meeting together on a cold Friday in January to have a quick little Valentine’s photo shoot with our kiddos. It usually goes pretty fast and the whole crew of nine kids in one small space can get a little wild, but I love the snapshot of their lives it gives us. It’s becoming a sweet little tradition.

The resulting images come in super handy when it’s time to send Valentines out to school friends and grandparents: a cute photo valentine card along with a little piece of candy makes for a fun, personal little greeting. Here’s our 2014 crop of Valentines, along with our wishes for a Happy Valentine’s Day, from us to you:

Christmas is less than a week away, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve once again found myself caught up in the hustle and bustle of endless holiday to-do lists, parties, programs and recitals heaped upon the everyday work of keeping a household running and trying to nurture a family. Though most of it is fun, the constant motion can very easily pull attention away from the underlying meaning of it all, the true meaning of Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving!

30 Years: Family Then and Now

30 years ago, Ramona Murdock was a mother of five youngsters when she acted on her dream and started a tiny dress company with nothing but talent and determination. This is what her family looked like in 1983:

Today, she’s the loving mother of six grown-ups…here we are in 2013:

As you can see, we’ve grown a bit over the years (both the kids and the company)!

7 Steps to Beautiful Baby Holiday Portraits

With the big Holidays upon us, it’s not too late to throw together a sweet portrait for card-sending or gift-giving. Whether you’re working with a professional or putting together an impromptu shoot on your own, these steps will help you get the job done:

1-Pick an outfit. It can be fancy & formal holiday attire, or simple with a hint of holiday color.

2-Think about your background. Christmas lights, pretty patterned fabric, chalkboard, outdoor, front porch, back-alley…the options are limitless!

3-Grab some props. Ornaments, candy canes, little chalkboards, pillows, garlands, variations on the trendy mustache, wrapped gifts…again, if you can imagine it, it can work.

4- Timing is everything. Make sure you’re hitting the kiddos’ happy time! Timing is important when it comes to lighting too: you’ll need to pay attention to the natural light from your windows for indoor shots, and dusk is best for outdoor shots.

5-Have some attention-grabbers on hand. Squeaky toys, funny faces…whatever works to bring a smile to that sweet face.

6-Snap a LOT of photos. More often than not, it takes a TON of shots to get one that’s just right.

7-Pick your winner and go with it. Now that you’ve done the work, print and share it. Portraits make lovely gifts…and there are so many fun ways to enjoy them in your own home too!
