Today we’re highlighting a gown that transcends time. This ivory beauty offers a vintage feel that’s totally on trend. The classy lace is perfect for passing on to generations to come. Take a look at our Memory Vintage Style Christening Gown…
All about the Memory…
This gorgeous gown is made from a re-embroidered lace netting. It’s a very delicate, open, and light fabric that’s created by twisting, knotting, or weaving threads together at regular intervals. The finished fabric is exquisite! The dress is fully lined with a smooth polyester lining. The Memory features elbow-length lace sleeves. A luxuriously long satin ribbon ties at the back. The skirt is gathered at the waist, giving a little volume to the gown. An heirloom length is sophisticated and classy. The matching bonnet and shawl are made from the same beautiful lace. The bonnet is finished with satin ribbon ties. This four-piece set also includes a comfortable cotton slip that can be personalized with one or more of our embroidery options.
We received the following note along with this lovely portait back in 2006:
“I purchased the Memory christening gown for my daughter’s baptism back at the beginning of July. The gown took my breath away when it first arrived…it was simply everything I had dreamed of for my daughter! The lace was so very soft, and it looked like something I found in my grandmother’s attic!
After the baptism, I took my daughter to get her portrait taken in her gown. I just wanted to share the picture with you. The portrait looks like a family portrait from 100 years ago! The gown is magnificent, and the price just couldn’t be beat. We received so many compliments that day, but the main compliment was how many people asked if my daughter was in a 3rd or 4th generation gown!
I will gladly tell all my friends about your site, and I will be shopping again for holiday clothing and perhaps a flower girl dress for my mother’s St. Patrick’s Day wedding in 2007! Thank you so much for such a lovely, treasured heirloom that will be handed down with pride and love!”
Precious little Scarlet’s mother, Linda, kindly shares her comments:
“I just wanted to share some photos of my daughter Scarlet Snow in your Memory christening dress. I searched high and low to find the perfect dress and once I found your web site there it was. It was great to have the option of ordering up to 3 dresses and your customer service was excellent! … We received so many compliments on how beautiful and unique the dress is.”
Have you ever considered going pink for her christening gown?
Every congregation has different requirements…some prefer all-white attire for christening, but one of the trends of the past few years has been incorporating color into christening gowns and christening outfits.
I must admit here that I like to do traditional with a little twist. My first baby girl was blessed in a gown very similar to our Jessa christening gown, of white silk dupioni with dainty pink rose braid trim. I went just a bit bolder with my second daughter’s gown: a rose-pink silk ruffled slip with a pretty over-coat of delicately embroidered french netting in a soft ivory color. And it was just beautiful.
If you’re looking for something unusual, One Small Child offers several ways to introduce color in christening wear, from a tiny kiss of pink to entire gowns of mellow ivory or stunning pink. The boys are not forgotten, we also offer a traditionally cut romper in cool blue.
