Why send out Christening Invitations

Using an invite to announce to friends and family to your little one’s special day, not only helps them save the date, it also gives a sense of formality. The effort that goes into creating and sending a mail invitation exhibits the importance you place on the invitee’s attendance. It will also impress on them that you, and your family, value their time and support.

Your invitation can be as unique as your precious little one. However, you want to make sure your invitations convey sufficient info that is clear, timely and looks great too! This Free template has fields for all the important details for you special day.

Invitations for Guests Invited to the Celebration Afterwards

Don’t forget to invite guests to the celebration afterwards. We find it is easiest to include a small card in the envelope along with the christening invitation to let them know when and where the party will be held.

When to send the invites…

Sending your christening invitations out at least a month in advance will allow loved ones enough time to make adjustments in their calendar. This time frame also allows sufficient time for those who may live far away to get their travel plans set.

Blessing Dress Details:

A 100% sheer lattice, polyester dress delicately overlays a soft 100% cotton slip. Flower-vine details float atop the bodice lattice and skirt edge. Perfectly scrunched lace wraps each sleeve in pure sweetness. The white satin-ribbon sash makes getting that perfect fit a breeze. (Ever wondered how to tie a dress sash into a perfect bow? A matching headband pulls this quaint little dress altogether. Soft elastic is attached to more flower-vine goodness, while an off-centered satin bow adds that “little something extra”.

Camisole Onsie – not only do these hold baby’s diaper firmly in place during the ceremony, they are great for everyday use (get more and save with our 3-pack). Have her initials monogrammed on the chest for a personal touch.
Cotton Diaper Cover – dainty satin-ribbon bows and cotton ruffles adorn the legs. And what could be more adorable than a cross, shamrock, or baby’s name embroidered on the bum!
Floral Initial Ruffle Bib – keep her dress pristine with a bib that looks as pretty as the dress. The floral embroidery detail compliment the dress and the flourish initial makes it custom just for her.

Brand New Spring Lace Christening Gowns Design – Camilla

Spring is Here!

Spring showers may bring April flowers, but here at One Small Child, Spring also brings fresh new designs. After a long winter of hunkering down and feverishly working, we are excited to present each one. First up is our Camilla Christening Gown:

What’s in a Name?

The name Camilla originates as a Latin baby name. It means noble; free-born; servant of the temple. We believe we captured the epitome of each meaning with this satin and lace baby gown.

Gown Details…

The square neckline brings a sense of noble birthright, just as it did in the 17th century. From neckline to hem stretches a generous floral lace panel with a unique continuous flow. Dual intricate glossy-looping trims each side to confirm superior craftsmanship. Scalloped lace is the final framework as it cascades over the shoulders and circles around the back. This is a flawless introduction to scalloping lace that waterfalls down three-quarter sleeves.

This gown is made with matte satin. Our satin is a pure white and lustrous mid-weight fabric. This combination of color and density makes for a temperature comfy baby on any Spring day.

A hand-gather waist and 3 buttons make up the back. The gathering offsets the simplistic front design, while buttons make for dressing ease. And finally, the hem is festooned with a double laced edge, and more glossy looped lace.

As a bonus, we include a matching baby christening bonnet. An exaggerated ruffle softly brushes baby’s sweet face. A thick satin band accentuates a fully-lined puff style bonnet. The open back design is indicative of a vintage inspired headpiece. Thin triple strand satin ribbons tie under the chin for a secure fit.

As life moves along at such a fast pace I can’t help but marvel at my children. They learn and grow so quickly. I feel immense joy as I watch them progress and adjust to life. No matter how “grown up” they seem to get each day, it never ceases to amaze me how they still play without a care in the world. We adults can learn so much from children. Let’s take their lead and find time to play with them, and (no matter how old we get) in our hearts–Never Grow Up!

Esther–Our New Silk Baptism Gown featuring Embroidered Lace Trim!

Old-world look, New-world feel

What could be better than a simple, yet elegant baptism gown? How about one that is made with gorgeous pearl-white silk! Our 100% silk dupioni provides an heirloom look with a rich luster & feel! This particular silk is a subtly textured fabric woven from a double strand of silk yarn in a plain weave pattern. The yarn is uneven and varies in width, creating a series of natural horizontal “slubs” that fosters a unique old-world character within the fabric.

To add even more vintage appeal, classic silk puff-sleeves accompany a silk high-waist bodice. Followed by a lavish one-inch pure silk ribbon that is used for the dress sash. This brings luxury and allows adjustment freedom for a snug custom fit.

Embroidered Lace

For the focal point of the bodice we used beaded scalloped-peaked embroidered lace. The pearl-like beadwork in the center of the lace provides subtle detail, along with impeccable presentation. In addition, this elaborate lace is the highlight of the matching bonnet, along with more one-inch pure silk ribbon for chin ties. Also, the skirt is adorned with additional embroidered lace as it is festooned around the edging like delicate icing on a cake. Dainty beads sprinkle the embroidered lace of both the bonnet and the skirt–so quaint! Finally, the skirt becomes complete with a generous silk-ruffle hem.

Baptism Keepsake Quality

The grandeur of this gown stands alone. However, we felt personalized embroidery would add the perfect keepsake touch. To do this we have included a soft cotton slip to go underneath the gown. Here a cross, full name and baptism date, or birth date can be a needlepoint work of art to be cherished. By customizing the slip, the gown is left in an heirloom quality that can be handed down to future posterity.

Why Parents & Guardians Will Love it!

Amidst the hustle of preparation is the task of finding an outfit or gown that will be perfect for your little one’s special day. Luckily this is where family, friends, or Godparents step in and help out! Godparents are honored to provide this for their Godchild. In other denominations family and friends usually help with this as well. Some moms want to have a say in deciding the special apparel, while others like to choose a few for the sponsor to pick from. Either way this registry will accommodate both scenarios. Not only can outfits or gowns be added to the registry; matching accessories, and gifts can be as well.

During this exciting time many loved ones want to help. With a gift registry they can. Parents compile a list within the registry, then share it with anyone who wishes to help.

Our gift registry takes out the guess work and uncertainty of knowing what to buy. Here’s a few ways how:

Maybe one person is supplying the outfit or gown, and another is getting matching accessories. Our gift registry allows parents to compile a complete list so helpers can choose what to purchase with just a point and click. This ensures everything will match, and keeps everyone up to date with what still needs to be purchased. It also keeps things budget friendly!
Sizing is always tricky when it comes to buying for a little one. This is no longer an issue as the sizes will already be entered by the parents.
Worrying over what style or length will be best for the event is a thing of past. The gift registry will show the parents preference.

How the Registry Works

Create an account. If you already have one, simply log in.
Once your account is created and you are logged in, you are ready to start. While in your account you will notice a menu on the left side of the screen. Click on “My Gift Registries”.
Now you enter important information regarding your event.
Now for the fun part! It’s time to enter your favorite Christening clothing, matching accessories, jewelry, and more! Just click on the category of choice on the menu bar at the top of the page. Then find an item you want to add to your registry. Select a size and click on the “add to registry” located next to the “add to cart” button. When finished you can go back to your registry to view the selected items.
When your registry is complete click on “Share Registry” and enter in emails of those you would like to share it with.

It is that easy!

Who doesn’t love a day in their pajamas? This question is what inspired our new handsome Payton Suspender Christening Outfit. It gives baby’s that cozy pajama feel, while making them look dashing at the same time. Uber soft cotton rib-knit pants supply ultra pj comfort for your baby boy. Also, giving mom the freedom to snuggle her little one in softness without the stress of wrinkles. A matching rib-knit tie adds an adorable factor. Not only that, but it is removable–oh the convenience! In addition, adjustable baby suspenders are not only “all the rage”, but are positively charming.

Christening Style

This baptism outfit also includes a crisp “big boy” pointed-collar button up shirt. The best part is, it’s a bodysuit! Three snaps make diaper changing a breeze, and also secures the shirt in place. As a result baby never comes untucked during the big day, no matter who is holding him. Most of all, the baby shirt adjusts for warm and cold seasons. Customers have their choice of a long sleeve shirt, or a short sleeve. Furthermore, the left sleeve cuff can be embroidered with initials to give and overall personal touch!

New Motif for Baptisms and More

Our latest design in Baptism wear features daisy embroidered satin and hand-beaded daisy lace. From shoulder to hem this dress is approximately 23-24″ (depending on the size). It was designed to brush past baby’s toes, while the included headband wraps her dainty head like a soft crown of flowers.

Classic Bodice & Plush Satin

Little ladylike puff sleeves are the perfect starting point for this dress. These sleeves, along with a definitive round neck bodice, are made from pure white satin. Unlike vertical plain weave, satin has a special weaving process. As such, light reflects off diagonally “floating” yarns. Therefore giving off a soft, rich glow! Our satin is a distinct mid-weight fabric. It is therefore universal, not too heavy for summer, yet warm enough for winter events.

Hand beaded lace to decorate the waist is just the right amount of embellishment. It is a graceful transitional piece from satin simplicity to elaborate embroidery.

Noteworthy Needlework

Beginning around 900 years ago the life of embroidery on fabric took shape. What started out as artisan intricate artwork on fabric soon became the mark of wealth. It quickly gained favor among the majority and remains sought-after today.

In 1820, white embroidery on a white backdrop came to mean fresh-purity and youth. We wanted to bring this same feel to our Arianne Christening Dress. This is where the elaborate details of the skirt come in. Ornate daisies of varying sizes adorn the skirt in the form of exquisite needlepoint. White embroidery on white satin provide princess type quality. In addition, this historic artisan technique offers touch-ably pleasing textile. Finally, graceful scallops make up the hem for a feminine finish. All-in-all, every skirt element combines for a simple, beautiful, time-less dress.
